Anokha is a non-government organisation in Vellore, India directly benefitting more than thousands of children through various live welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood and women empowerment.
Doubtless, education is the most powerful catalyst for social transformation. But child education cannot be done in isolation. Anokha aims at providing education through fun and innovative educational activities and bringing an inception of change in the society.
To trigger the curiosity among the budding scientists, Anokha NGO conducts Scientastic every year. Students from various schools in and around Vellore, of various age groups, come to our campus, and we teach them Science in a fun and a creative way. We help the children build various projects and models. Scientastic 3.0 basically involved an ideathon conducted for ingenious students from various schools in and around Vellore.
A cultural spectacle in which students from nearby schools came to take part and compete, showcasing their talents in various categories - art, music, and dance. We provided a platform for the young buds to flash their talent and this event motivated the students to never stop believing in their dreams, building their self confidence. Young talents are to be nurtured, and we Anokhites are happy to play our role in it.
Individually we all are drops, together we are an ocean. Anokha believes in involving thousands to bring a change in million realities. We organise various campaigns inviting the support of people around us to create an unforgettable impact on society. Many campaigns like sanitary napkin drive, notebook distribution drive, blood donation camp have been organised by Anokha.
'Career workshop' was our initiative to leave our touch to their bright futures, making them build their dream career and live their desired life! It was an interactive session with the kids learning from them their dreams and enlightening them with various career opportunities.
"I joined Anokha because I was really passionate about giving back to the society and what's a better way than to educate the future gems! Anokha works with one well established belief of 'INCEPTION OF CHANGE'. Club sessions have been the most exciting part of Anokha. Hope House was the first center I was allotted, and hence, it's really close to my heart. Seeing those girls grow up to become more mature makes me feel like I have contributed in something important. I think my journey in Anokha has really shaped me into who I am today. It has made me more compassionate towards others and has given me moments which I would like to cherish for the rest of my life. Anokha will always hold a special place in my heart, no matter where I am in future!"
I joined Anokha in the first year of my college and like everyone who gets involved with an NGO, I was so excited that I'd be getting a chance to help out young kids so they could lead a better life. After my first session I realised that this really isn't as simple as I thought it would be. Over the years the entire team and I have put in tons of effort to come up with curriculums and various activities to teach mundane topics to keep these kids engaged. In the end, it was always worth it and seeing the kids learn something is the most satisfying feeling. I'm so grateful for all the experiences Anokha has given me and I couldn't possibly imagine what my college life would be without it. I've seen Anokha grow over the years and become what it is today and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.
Every single time when I used to address the whole Anokha family, somewhere deep in my heart, I always felt that we as a team can conquer heights, achieve wonders, fulfill goals. The dedication that each member shows towards the club, represents the goals that we all share to make this club bigger and greater. The dream- where we want to teach the kids not only about the concept of education and learning but also their worth as a person. I will always cherish those days when the whole team worked with and for each other, to make each and every event of Anokha a successful one. Each member of Anokha, has a common vision - betterment of the lives of the underprivileged. Anokha has made me confident, and has taught me that each individual and their worth in society is important . Anokha has helped me to be more responsible and manage a team well.
In this journey of 3.5 years with Anokha, I have seen it grow from a seed to a sapling. Combined hard work, perseverance, joint passion for the cause and ofcourse a little bit of luck were the elements which made Anokha evolve. My first event that I attended was the Independence day event organized by Anokha at one of our centers -Hope House. We played around with paints, sang patriotic songs and also, played various games with the kids. And that made me realize how little things like these could bring joy and happiness. My experience with Anokha, all the events, and most importantly the moments spent with the kids will always be cherished and treasured by me!
